What is the Elderly or Disabled Homestead Exclusion Property Tax Relief Program?

The Elderly or Disabled Exclusion provides property tax relief for qualified North Carolinians who are age 65 and over or totally and permanently disabled on January 1. The exclusion amount is the greater of $25,000 or 50% of the appraised value of the home and up to 1 acre of land.
